Spirit of Dick Barter

The Spirit of Dick Barter is siad to haunt this island in Emerald Bay. He was in a storm on the lake when his boat tipped leaving him holding to the side. The next morning he made it home with two frost bitten toes, which he amputated himself. This expierence lead him to dig a grave for himself on the island and said that he wished to be buried there.

In 1873 he drowned in another boating accident. His body was never found, and thought to be at the bottom of the lake. But his ghost found its way to the island and is oftenly seen moving around the island on summer nights by campers.

Ghost of Elvis Presley at the Horizon

One of Tahoe's most famous Haunts is of The King himself, Elvis Presley who performed many times at South Lake Tahoe's Horizon Casino.

Elvis's voice has been heard in the hallways on the 7th floor and penthouse level as well as apparitions of his silhouette seen backstage at the main state.

So many staff at the Hotel have seen Elvis that no one feels uncomfortable or threatened by this obviously benevolent residual spirit.

Headless Fallen Leaf Lake Haunt

Local Residents of the area report a shadowly woman carrying her head underneath her arm can frequently be distinguished gazing at the water by Fallen Leaf Dam late at night.

Footage of this apparition has appeared famously on several TV shows, and been the subject of several magazine articles about repeating Paranormal activity.

Angora Lake Ghost

The ghost of a chain shackled woman in black has been spotted on numerous instances on the water's edge of Angora Lakes trying to grab something. According to what the folks who live here declare, this ghost is almost certainly the tormented ghost of a resident who used to live here in South Lake Tahoe.

The woman had been beaten and killed in the area by an unknown assailant, and her 2 children never seen again.

Anyway, it's a terrifying ghost that you shouldn't go seeking.

White Lady of Angora Creek

A glowing spirt of a cloaked woman with maggots crawling from her nostrils and mouth has often been seen tossing rocks into the flow at Angora Creek late at night.

Some believe she is the spirit of a syphilis infected prostitute from the 1890's.

Cave Rock

The Washoe Indians used to throw their deceased off Cave Rock. Rumor has it that large numbers of spirits have been known to appear as if they are performing a tribal ritual. It is also known that the Washoe used Cave Rock as very sacred area.

Heavenly Tram Ghost

The glowing image of a 10 year old child in ski hat and googles is sometimes seen in the side window of the Ski Resort's Tram as it passes the Mid Mountain Transfer Tower.

When the Tram arrives at the Base Station, no one is found.
The specter is reportedly the ghost of Robbie Hall who fell to his death in 2005 after a door malfunction, or he opened it inadvertantly during.
