Mont Bleu Room 416
The Haunting seem to take place around room 416, which also may or may not have poltergeist activity. (There is a disagreement over this. The Spirit will not interact with observers and either fades into the shadows of the hallway or rounds a corner and disappears.

Spooner Summit Specter
On the Tahoe Rim Trail just north of highway 50 near Spooner Summit, a ghostly figure has appeared to hikers and cyclists for years. The male specter, appearing in 19th-century clothing and sometimes wearing a brimmed hat, appears near the summit of the Tahoe Rim Trail on a rock outcropping about a mile more the highway.
The ghost never responds when addressed, and often fades out right in front of the startled eyes of the hikers. Although the specter has been seen in all seasons, is most often seen in the summer. Some paranormal investigators believe he may be a Basque sheepherder, although no one knows for sure.

Marilyn Monroe at the Cal Neva Hotel
Carl Buehler approaches the ceiling light at the end of the hallway with caution. Although the Cal Neva employee has given this underground tunnel tour hundreds of times, he never knows what will happen under that light any given night.
The light is the only light in our casino out of hundreds of lights that goes on and off by itself," Buehler says. "There are no switches to this light. It is a 24 hour light. Engineers have checked this light - there is nothing wrong with this light. The bulbs have been changed. The electric is fine with it, there is nothing wrong. I tell people this and they say, well you have a switch to this. Well, I don't have a switch."
Buehler then explains that this is Marilyn Monroe's light. She is the one who controls when the light goes on and off, he says.
"There is no explanation for this light, except that for whenever she wants to, she'll just turn it on or off," Buehler says as he approaches the outed light. "On the last tour I had, as we were walking out, Marilyn turned the light off. It's crazy. I've never seen nuthin' like it."
As Buehler points to the stairs at the end of the hallway just to the right of the light, he notes that the steps lead to nowhere and that they are blocked off. He says that a psychic who visited the casino said "there was a lot of spiritual energy through here" and saw Marilyn sitting on the second step crying.
"The psychic said Marilyn was crying because she doesn't like the way Americans portray her," Buehler says. "We took pictures right where she was supposed to be and sure enough, there was a big ball of light right where she was supposed to be. It was a spiritual orb. You never know what you are going to get."
And almost on cue, the light goes off. Marilyn has struck.
"If anybody asks me if this place is haunted I say 'Hell yes,'" Buehler says. "It's the craziest light I've seen. It's bizarre."
Cal Neva employees like to exchange ghost stories. In addition to the underground tunnels that Frank Sinatra built and the ghosts that haunt the stage, another part of the casino gives employees chills.
There are people who are afraid to go on the first floor. Someone was killed in room 101.
"The first floor down below is always cold," said Frank Encinas, a Cal Neva security guard. "Even in July it is cold. Someone committed suicide down there. It gives you the creeps."
Security guard Davis Dunihue said it is the last room rented in the entire hotel.
San Jose resident Lisa Eichler, who stayed at the Cal Neva one recent weekend with her boyfriend, claims she has psychic abilities and that she has felt ghosts elsewhere, but feels no such energy on the first floor of the Cal Neva.
"I don't know. Just because there was a suicide doesn't mean there are ghosts. People who kill themselves want to leave and why would they stay," Eichler says. "If I get scared, you should be scared. But I ain't scared."

Ehrman Mansion Mystery
Heidi Doyle, a State of California park ranger, said she and other rangers held a "stakeout" one night after someone found an indentation in a bed that was in a bedroom once occupied by Sydney Ehrman.
"This happened for several nights in a row," Doyle said of the indentation. "Thinking that it was a homeless person, rangers did several all night stakeouts, only to come up empty handed. The indents stopped appearing and have not re-occurred since."

Haunts of the Biltmore Lodge
Screaming Ghost of the Biltmore
In one of the Biltmore Tahoe Lodge's Cottage rooms, horrifing bloodcurtling screams are heard at various hours of the night.
When investigated, no one is ever found. Apparently the screams only occur when the upstairs room is occupied; Hotel Staff has taken to booking this room first when possible as to lessen nighttime disruptions.
Ghost of Molly
Also, legend has it that a show girl named "Molly" committed suicide there in the 60's. Her ghost still haunts the casino area with occasional late night appearences in the old ballroom, dressed in full showgirl costume..

Spirit of Dick Barter
In 1873 he drowned in another boating accident. His body was never found, and thought to be at the bottom of the lake. But his ghost found its way to the island and is oftenly seen moving around the island on summer nights by campers.
Ghost of Elvis Presley at the Horizon
Elvis's voice has been heard in the hallways on the 7th floor and penthouse level as well as apparitions of his silhouette seen backstage at the main state.
So many staff at the Hotel have seen Elvis that no one feels uncomfortable or threatened by this obviously benevolent residual spirit.
Headless Fallen Leaf Lake Haunt
Footage of this apparition has appeared famously on several TV shows, and been the subject of several magazine articles about repeating Paranormal activity.
Angora Lake Ghost
The ghost of a chain shackled woman in black has been spotted on numerous instances on the water's edge of Angora Lakes trying to grab something. According to what the folks who live here declare, this ghost is almost certainly the tormented ghost of a resident who used to live here in South Lake Tahoe.
The woman had been beaten and killed in the area by an unknown assailant, and her 2 children never seen again.
Anyway, it's a terrifying ghost that you shouldn't go seeking.
Heavenly Tram Ghost
When the Tram arrives at the Base Station, no one is found.
The specter is reportedly the ghost of Robbie Hall who fell to his death in 2005 after a door malfunction, or he opened it inadvertantly during.
Thunderbird Lodge
When a local news crew invited me to investigate Thunderbird Lodge I was thrilled. The Thunderbird Lodge is our state's answer to Whaley House and Winchester House. Once owned by reclusive millionaire George Whittell, the lodge is a must see for anyone interesed in history and ghosts. I felt that there was some spirit energy on the property and that most of the haunting activity occurs in the boathouse (see photo at left) and in the pool house.
The Thunderbird was George Whittell's pride and joy. But the sleek, wooden speed boat wouldn't fit in the boathouse, so he decided to convert it to an indoor pool and build a bigger boathouse. While working in the poolhouse, a laborer fell from a ladder and was killed. George Whittell ordered everything left just as it was and had the room sealed up.
There is a general feeling that there is activity in this particular area. While the news crew and I tried to record EVP we listened as water dripped in the room. My husband who was standing a few feet away remarked that the water dripping sounded almost like voices. The only discernable sounds I was able to record on this night were those of loud, rythmic knocking in the boathouse.

No one knows who the grey haired, be speckled dignified old man may be, but he is such a fixture here, that the staff laugh about it when asked.
"Everyone has seen him, and he doesn't bother us, so we don't bother him"
BODY AT THE BEACH
Some guests of the resort have reported seeing a pale white woman floating lifelessly in the water off of the Resorts Private Beach.
When life guards arrive, no body is ever found. One Sacramento Based Pschic, beleives the woman may be the spirit of Angie Plower, a Tahoe Area Socialite who fell off a steamship in the 1920's in the area.
Haunted Star Hotel
Many staff, including me felt touching by unseen hands on several occasions. Often the room got ice cold during these occurrences.
Also a shadowy figure would walk from one room to the other on the ground floor at night, often in full view of staff and guests alike.
Some people believe the adjacent graveyard may have something to do with the numerous apparitions.

Sand Harbor Hauntings
Although some people have reported seeing a shadow man on the bordwalk at night, it is not know if this is related to the famous and friendly poltergeist known by the rangers.
